After file transfer or file download from often cannot open file because format isnt recognized. If it gave you the option to launch said file by allowing you to specifiy default app things would flow a little better. I have VLC player which plays every video format installed, so when i download a video file instead of going to VLC id like to have that type opened by default with a defined app.

Maybe there is a way or list within SFOS where i can add file types?

@coderus is there an app for alien-dalvik controls? Currentlty id like SFOS to recognize a file manually which is currently cant open (SFOS) and second point an app at the file to always open or offer from list of possible options (exactly like the browser options menu when opening an URL and you have multiple browsers installed SFOS or Android).

@tortoisedoc thats fantastic thank you! its addresses half of the issue and works well, the other half would be how can you add file extensions to the mime handler that arent covered yet in the list? file types not at all recognized by the system but are video files, images files etc.

thanks, its a good point, also default mime-type icons are currently missing. what kind of mimetypes are you currently missing?

Also please note that adding completely new types can be done with xdg-mime utility but requires root rights, see here https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/AddingMIMETutor/
