Legitimate question, no reason for being downvoted.

The tool used for package management is pkcon, you may use zypper (available in repos)

SailfishOS derives from the RedHat branch which is an rpm-based (rpm as in redhat package manager) system.

Apt, on the other hand, is used in Debian-based systems like Ubuntu. Here is a nice chart showing the complete Linux timeline: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Linux_Distribution_Timeline.svg

If you are used to apt-get, you might find this helpful: http://gfxmonk.net/2012/08/12/pkcon-the-cross-distro-package-manager-cli.html

It contains typical apt-get requests translated to the pkcon universe. :)

nice i am new to the pkcon -verse ,

i secretly was wishing they could all be interchangeably be used on sailfish though -

I remember to have read somewhere that SFOS derives from the Redhat branch and not from the Debian branch. The latter would be apt; the former is rpm. I will hand in sources on my discovery, promise.

Thanks for that. I'm a longtime SuSE user but I've just started to use Debian because they still support 32bit. I can now forget about APT.

When I got my Jolla C I tried to use zipper, but it didn't work - as I wrote here:
https://together.jolla.com/question/138542/failed-to-install-an-openrepos-repo/
Since then I've stuck to pkcon.

Source added in answer, just take a look at the impressive timeline! :)
