It seems that compass hardware on the Turing phone and other SFOS ports (Opo or Oneplus) is not supported by Jolla Sailfish.

Does anybody know why Jolla doesnt develop (drivers) for different ports to more easily enable the compass in non Jolla hardware?

drivers are developed by hw vendors; typically they are extremely gealous of their hw so outsiders wont have access to source (unless $$$$$ is involved). Jolla runs on top of the android drivers via libhybris (apparently nowadays abdroid drivers have become defacto standard).

@tortoisedoc i guess that makes sense, maybe fairphone and hw companies that controll more of the design and making of subcomponents can get those drivers made. Its odd though thats only the compass, the camera works, so does the gyroscopes and accelerometers.
