Dear Community is it safe to upgrade my Jolla the first One [answered]

Hi everyone,

I'm one of the first ones, gladly bought a Jolla even before the phones really existed, in paticular because of a few features that I really wanted, like Facebook native integration. I could finally have a contact list that properly integrated all my contacts from Facebook, with emails and phone-numbers and pictures I wouldn't have to manually set on hundreds of my contacts. Then came along the update to 1.1.4.29 that said, it was going to delete my facebook account along with all it's contacts. I didn't want to loose all my finely tuned contact list, because I couldn't even foresee in what state my contact list would be afterwards, so I didn't update, and lost a bit of interest.

Now that several releases have passed, I think it's time to re-consider updating, so I ask all of you: Is it safe to upgrade my Jolla? What's going to happen to my contact list? Is info/contacts going to be lost? Did any of the later updates recover any kind of facebook integration?

Yes that's no problem. Just take care to make a backup for you never know. I had did it on a Jolla 1 i have version 2.0.5.6 of Sailfish on it. It take some time the first upgrade, later on it's going faster. Don't forget to put the Jolla 1 on the charger.

Good luck

Facebook is working ok.

Facebook integration is not working. Yes, you can use browser or Sailbook, but from contacts you cant use messenger etc.

I think they remain there, but if you have to send messages or change device there is not anymore contacts from facebook. I had to change device and was unable to get contacts back. It was nice to have pictures to contacts from facebook.

The facebook contacts will remain. You have to login again after upgrade. All the data is there on your backup that's made before the upgrade will be downloaded and installed. That's how it worked on my Jolla 1.
