Hi, I have a number of Jolla 1 phones in my desk drawer and was considering giving one to my granddaughter who is persistently bugging more and more that she wants a mobile. However for child protection I'd like to be able to configure the following:

  • no network internet access, only WIFI. Preferably also only from approved networks
  • only outbound calls from phone-list stored on SIM card
  • only accept incoming calls from numbers stored on sim card. Others should be silently dropped

As far as I remember SIM cards store about 128 numbers which is enough for family and friends.

This must all be password protected. The password must be different from the screen-lock password. She must be able to lock the screen. i.e. it would require a system password accessing everything and a user password which can be restricted.

I remember my old Siemens phones in the 90's used to have the option of allowing only calls from the phone-book on the SIM card so this should be technically possible. Configurations could be password protected. I'm not sure if it blocked incoming calls but it restricted the outbound ones.

Can it be done with Jolla? Preferably not relying on android. I don't want to install android. I don't use it myself on my own Jolla phone and not using Apple or Android is my main reason for using Jolla.

If it can't be done without Android I'd probably be more likely to look for a Windows phone which is probably less inquisitive than Apple or Android.

Thanks, Charles
