Hi, I'm currently struggling to have tinder on my jolla phone and until now, nothing worked:

  • The app sailfinder seems to have login problems with new accounts (When I try to login, I get the message "tinder login expired", and it goes back to the login page).
  • The google app always asks for google play services and is not able to show any profile.
  • The amazon app asks for localization service but I didn't succeed at providing one so I stay stuck with the android popup screen asking for this service.

Did anybody succeed at instlalling and using a tinder app on sfos ? I guess I'm not the only one wanting to use this app :p

Sailfish version 2.0.5.6

Thank you for your help :)

Your best bet is to contact the sailfinder developer in order to get the bug fixed.

Yes, this has already been reported but the bugfix will not come before weeks/month (the dev is currently too buzy to work on this).

@Jboot use sailfinder, the login token issue usually is resolved if you switch networks. use VPN securefishnet and pick another country say US Las Vegas, whatever matches your Facebook location should work. You can also try to login Facebook on SFOS browser first, make sure that works, and install SFOS open repo facebook plugins, it should work though after trying a couple times.

@DarkTuring I tried to switch from wifi to 4G but it didn't change anything :/ How is it possible to pick another country with securefishnet? I never used it and I don't have any VPN for my personnal use. I logged in facebook with SFOS browser but it didn't change anything either. What do you mean by "facebook plugins"? Do you refer to this ? Thanks!

Tinder? Is this something similar to Grindr?

There is native Sailfinder in the Jolla-Store, if you really want to use the android version you need to get proper gservices and that you can by installing gmaps <- that will pull in gservices properly

Unfortunately, the sailfinder app currently have problems with newly created accounts… (what I explain in the first point of my post) I will try installing gmaps and keep you updated of the results. Thanks for the tip :)

I installed google play thanks to this wiki: https://together.jolla.com/question/30926/howto-install-google-play-on-original-jolla-phone-sbj/?sort=votes&page=1, and then I installed maps, but I still had a message asking to install Google Play services. So I installed them. I don't have error messages anymore but tinder gets stuck on the "looking for people around you" screen. I wonder if my localization is shared with this app. I will investigate further.

Tinder's way of asking for location is borked, you need a second app asking for gps to get a location and even then it is not made sure yet. Better just go out and grab a beer at a bar and make eye-contact ;)

@chemist yes, you're right, opening a map or gps seems to fix it. Concerning the beer my study carried out during several years in several bars with several beers shows that eye-contact is expersive and success rate is low. Tinder is complementary to nightlife :p

Sailfinder V3.0 is out on Openrepos which should fix the login issue with new accounts.
