I always see people asking for feature already present in android or other mobile OSes. My friends ask me about exclusive feature which sailfish have or others borrowed from sailfish. All i have to say about is UI.
Do add such features in answers. We may not aware of good features. We can update ourselves.

Especially the number 5.) is something that is quite unique in today's mobile devices! (It used to be possible in Nokia Maemo/Meego products, though)
What this means is that it is really easy to develop SW on the device itself; You can install compiler tools and build just about anything ever released as s SW tarball... Actually you have git in the device so you can sync a repository from github and build the package directly!
There is nothing that compares to that!

The big dark ecosystem comes from Google services and apps, it is not caused by Android as OS, if I understand correctly. How long SF OS will remain trustable and "clean" is questionable. How will the first Russian device's SF OS version look like? As long as there are no strong privacy protection options (app permissions) integral part of the OS and the removal is forbidden as part of the licence conditions, the future of SF OS as trustworthy OS is unclear.

What I want to say is that Android is not bad from a technical point of view. The problem is Google's tight grip on it. Can we get into a similar situation with SF OS? What will make licensees out of it?

I understand you'd need to jailbreak an Android before you can use that platform's implementations for that.

It's not android, that not enough? EDIT : well ok technically speaking its an android, but still, its as close as possible to a mainstream linux distro.
Please keep in mind that libhyris leverages on android drivers.

After one year of using JP1 I'll post mine observed HOT's and NOT's
HOT:
1) Diferrent from the grey mass - nobody has such device
2) Big Brother is not watching You. AFAIK Jolla team promised not to sale owner's private data
3) Low resource usage - SFOS are running smoothly even on JP1 (when it saw the daylight? uhhmmm, no idea, but software is still update)
4) Ideal choice for NIX enthusiast and previous Nokia N 9/950 user
5)User communuty (IMHO it is a bit messy... requesting make it as forum, where all info are sorted by topics)
NOT:
1) Not enough native apps (pushed out by perennial Alien Dalvik), and even native apps has low functions
2) Poor or even no availabality of devices with SFOS (custom ROM for Android devices doesn't count, and this is a MAJOR CON)
3) No WPS support for WLAN
4) Hard to MOD... (Boosting headset volume by editing some system files not working properly)
H5 there is and always was talk.maemo.org while not officially advertised as Jolla's Forum, it is a place to go for any Maemo/Mer derived system! N3 if at all wpa2enterprise is still missing, as simo said WPS is the dragons! N4 highly subjective, there are limits such as powerout of the chipset and that is limited till it destorts physically - it is actually H6 good to mod as you can alter anything to your liking (with some knowledge and in limits of the hardware)

Additional to above member comments, SailfishOS:
The first and single commercial OS who make use of Wayland. Wayland add a level of security not achievable in Android or X.
Uses free and open-source graphics device drivers
SDK for Windows, Mac and Linux
Now, if Jolla do not come, very fast, with a top notch device they will loose developer interest and community members. SailfishOS will become another historical great OS, along BBOS, Symbian, BeOS, Syllable, Plan9, AmigaOS, PalmOS etc...
