Hi. I am new to Sailfish OS and I have a problem getting Android Support to work. I am using Sailfish OS 2.0.5.6. Downloading apk and trying to run it gives unsupported file type error. Installing it using File Explorer gives error. Help page said I need to try to install Android app using Jolla store but I cannot seem to find any Android app there. Searching Aptoide gives no result in Jolla store. Google searches got me nowhere. A litte push would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is Jolly tab in my Jolly store This how "Jolly" tab looks like in my case. Maybe I did something wrong in the installation process? I have Nexus 4 (mako). I cleared Delvik cache, installed latest stable CyanogenMod 11 release available for my phone, and lastly installed latest version of Sailfish OS. However OS is working grea and is very stable.

In the Jolla-store browse down to section where they list apps made by Jolla (I have it at the bottom between games and stores subsections) and install "Android(tm) Support".

You should be able to toggle Android support on and off in the settings. Go to settings -- Info -- Android Support. There should be start and stop buttons.

What are you everyone talking about? Ported device have no Aliendalvik support. Aliendalvik is licensed proprietary stuff. Forget about builtin official android support and prey for sfdroid project.

Following this tutorial I managed to get sfdroid to work. I made it easy way and rolled back to Sailfish OS 2.0.0.10 for compatibility reason. The sfdroid from the tutorial was not working on 2.0.5.6. Thanks!

hi @Filip Hazubski and welcome to TJC. you can get android support by:

  1. open jolla store "store"
  2. scroll all the way down and tap on "jolla"
  3. tap an "android support"
  4. use pulley menu to "install"

also for the future please note that the "how-to" tag is not meant for questions like "how to do that?" but for threads like "here is how to do that!" - for giving instructions
