This post is a wiki. Anyone with karma >75 is welcome to improve it.
This is not question but more like petition and thread to rise awareness to get Signal to Jolla store.
Currently there is application called Whisperfish https://github.com/aebruno/whisperfish
And if I have understood correctly development of this application is little bit uncertain because uncertainty of the support by Whisper.
So if possible one can go to Whisper community and rise awareness about Jolla and SailfishOS. https://whispersystems.discoursehosting.net/t/resources-to-support-jolla-sailfishos-devices/712
Maybe someday we could have Whisperfish/Signal at Jolla Store.
I do not want an app for any communication protocol. If you ask me, those should be included in Jollas native messages app. It's a great feature to just communicate at one location through different protocols.
inta ( 2017-01-24 11:34:26 +0200 )editLibreSignal is already in the Jolla store. The developers of Signal are very much against people making third party clients for unsupported platforms, though. I've given up on it and them entirely.
nthn ( 2017-01-24 11:38:12 +0200 )editMy problem with LibreSignal is that I don't use Android support. SailfishOS native version is in my dreams.
KylliOrvokki ( 2017-01-24 12:28:05 +0200 )editThere's SailSecure on openrepos, but it's discontinued: https://openrepos.net/content/schorsch/sailsecure
Anyway, the lead developer of Signal is against third party applications: https://github.com/LibreSignal/LibreSignal/issues/37#issuecomment-217211165
Giskard ( 2017-01-24 16:43:08 +0200 )editAnyway we Don't need to speak about Libresignal, the Project is from the team abandoned because it "was not OK with LibreSignal using the Open Whisper Systems servers and the name "Signal"." Explicit written on top of the Github Main page of it
