I wonder if is possible to add such feature to SMS text messaging or maps application. It would be very useful where internet coverage is missing, gsm signal is very low, or you want to send your location to someone who do not have a smartphone.

As an better alternative to usage of GPSInfo from Jolla Store, you could use the app Poor Maps from OpenRepos.net. One more big advantage is that this app can work in an completely offline mode with OSM Scout Server. Therefore, you don't need any data connectivity to run it successfully.

To fulfill your wish:

It also puts a copy of the current coordinates into the clipboard and opens the SMS messaging app automatically...

The required menue-entry is called "Share current position" -> "SMS"...

Sounds like a nice feature - I really should add that to modRana as well. :)

I use the GPSInfo app from Harbour for this. It allows to copy current coordinates into clipboard directly from the cover. Then just paste them into your message.

Yes, I make use of same GPSinfo app, but this is not the solution I'm looking for.

GPSinfo could instead or additionally hook to share API
