UPDATE (23.08.2017): still broken on 2.1.1.24.

I have trouble using my Zoho Mail account through both IMAP/POP3+SMTP and Exchange.

IMAP/POP3+SMTP:

Both IMAP and POP3 work fine, SMTP fails despite proper config. This means my e-mail account is read-only.

Exchange:

Setup process goes fine, unable to download any e-mail, do anything.

I'm facing the exact same problem. Microsoft EAS doesnt work with zoho either.

And AFAIK the only solution is using zoho mail app from android app store.

Same here - still. It has been so long already, that I even forgot I'm sending out mails from a different account meanwhile.

Has anyone tried - as a workaround - to set up two accounts (with the same credentials)? One General email account for IMAP/retrieval and a second Microsoft Exchange account for sending out mails?

@shantanoo: if you need to install an android app to get this to work, maybe something like K-9 Mail is a better choice than a Zoho-specific app (and K-9 Mail is in F-Droid as well). I don't have an SFOS device (yet), but I can confirm that K-9 Mail can both send (SMTP) and receive (IMAP) e-mail from a Zoho account on Android Nougat.

Can anyone confirm that it works under 2.2.1.18? I re-added my account (for some reason you can't just add SMTP settings after it broke once) and sent myself a test email. It went through fine.
