Question - What happens to older posts?
I've had some posts closed to being duplicates... duplicates of posts that are years old and have yet had no closure. They are requests, thoughts and opinions which have just been abandoned... and yet live, fresh calls are deleted for being duplicates.
It seems to me that something needs to be done to these posts... not simply abandoned, or being closed... as if they keep coming up, then there are issues which clearly need looking at.
IIRC there used to be a process back then to prioritize issues from tjc; not sure that is still active tho.

juiceme ( 2017-05-08 10:55:38 +0200 )editsometimes i see myself that some are so old and quite similar to the one i want to create. If i can identify the software version, and is totally different as the current one, then i try to appreciate the activity to the owner. No activity then, means abandoned. And i close it.
cemoi71 ( 2017-05-08 10:58:43 +0200 )editIf not really software version is mentioned and the activity seems to be dead, then i reuse it.
One time software was mentioned, version was really old, but activity of owner was still present, but not for the thread. I has its own story for the mentioned software. I closed it with a comment to the owner, an made my thread, and explain, explicitly that is not a duplicate, because of fully differences of software version and functions.
Important i think is a vital function should not be blocked just because of duplicate.
Owner should bring it alive, and other should ask how is the stand, if owner is still aware on it.
That just my point of you..
After that, we should maybe give a look in the guidelines...
for the guidelines on the past the simo has made a really big work.

i act partly as he suggested.. not totally
"It seems to me that something needs to be done to these posts..." ...
Not necessarily. But if you want to, here's what you can do:
Of course one has to live with the fact that some of the issues that seem most important to ourselves simply aren't of any importance to anybody else in this community. Pushing my own questions up will not make them more interesting for others. (Like there's this issue with SailfishOS not showing album art in music files. Nobody cares, so I have to live with it.)
