jolla tablet: poor video quality

When playing videos on my Jolla tablet, the quality is often compromised. There are regular red colour disorders, such as strips, especially for sources such as YouTube. My phone does just fine, both are running 2.1.0.11 (lijoki). While there are a bunch of codecs at Openrepos for the phone - which I have installed - only a few are available for the tablet. Is there a solution besides creating own packages?

I have the same problem since 2.0.5.6 and still with 2.1.0.11 - only with tablet, jolla1 is ok

  • It's like a ghost picture of the base colours - with the reddish part very prominent shifted downwards.
  • concerns most of streaming videos (not all)

I cannot reproduce with LLs Video Player playing back 360p youtube videos mostly. Though I know 2.1.2 will bring finally a new fixed gstreamer version which fixes streaming issues with 720p streams and above stuttering. Maybe it also fixes the issue you have.

btw. please convert that to a comment as this is not an answer.

So I installed gstreamer ugly codecs and LLs Video player. Things are OK now for all video players. Besides, I would be glad if more packages would be compiled to support tablet hardware, too.
