After receiving notification display goes back to sleep even on action [released]

I have an Intex that's converted to Jolla C with the latest update. But I think this is an issue for all different devices.

So the thing is that when the display turns on by itself (for example when the battery is full or I got a SMS/email) I need to wait for the display to turn off or to turn it off and back on myself before I can unlock the screen. If I try to unlock the phone after the display has turned on by itself, the display will still be turned off and this is annoying. Is this possible to fix so that it's possible to unlock the device after a notification has awaken the display?

Underlying reason is the same as for https://together.jolla.com/question/135227/screen-behavior-on-headphones-plug-in-and-navigating-to-the-launcher/
