Can't swith on the display to end a call

Hi all,

there is some old questions similar to mine, but with no solution, or not exactly the same behaviour.

In my case, since few months (I can't say since which release), very often (50% of the time), I can't end a call. Normally, at the end, when the user take away the phone form its ear, normally, the display is switched on, so, that the user can use the End call button of the UI.

In my case, sometimes, the screen is not switched on. If I use the ON/OFF button, the display is switched on less that one second, and switched off back, with not enough time to use the button. When it happens : 3 solutions: - waiting until the other person ends the call (not possible, whan it is the answering machine), - using a headphone with buttons, - remove the battery.

I also have another behaviour linking to that. Sometime, the display is not switched on when : - I receive a call, - the alarm clock is ringing. In those cases, I have to use the on/off button.

Is it something known?

Thanks for your help. Vincent

There are some instances of the touch pad not responding after a call so the call can be dropped but never the blanking of the screen. I might have suggested a hardware issue related to your proximity sensor but when you include the alarm to the list, it no longer fits that description. Since it started at a particular period, have you considered factory reset?

Since the last update (2.1.0.11) I have a similar behavior with the call end. The display doesn't switch on automatically when taking away the phone. I need to double tap the screen to switch it on. But that works always.

@DameCENO : I thought also that the issue was around the proximity sensor, but effectively, the behaviour with the alarm clock doesn't correspond... I made a factory reset for other reason in January, I can perform a new one.

@simloc : unfortunately, double tap doesn't work when the display is not automatically switched on. The rest of the time, it works correctly

Sounds like dirty/otherwise misbehaving proximity sensor locked into "covered" state.

One thing that can always be done in cases like this is to: Do triple power key press -> the proximity sensor is ignored until it starts to report changes again.

Hi spiiroin, you are right. I missed this subject during my research. I saw with CSD tool, that the proximity sensor is halted when the bug occures. The sensor state doesn't change, with the hand on the sensor or not.

The display glass is broken on my device (quite severely), but Jolla doesn't have enough spare to repair it :(
