There are various references to copy the contents of /home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Contacts/qtcontacts-sqlite/.

The question is what to do with them? Copy all of the files, or just contacts.db back in the same directory in attempting to re-import contacts, in a newly installed, and updated, system?

Or, is there another way to export vcf files out of the SQLite db (outside from SOFS' environment, i.e. in some Linux distro).

A bump! Would anyone know how to deal with this?

Hi Nikos,

I would suggest to copy all the folder. There is a command to stop the Contacts Service first - I don't remember it, it exists in the forum here. Copying back the directory after factory reset it will restore all contacts as they were.

From my personal experience export / import backup of Contacts did not work well, especially if you have contacts that contain non-latin letters. The best for me was to copy the directory. That worked also with communications history and messages directory

Interesting what you experienced -- I thought the "right" way is to export (from the data bases) and import back (using tools, i.e. the commhistory-tools). I will check and report back.

Does not work for me. Tried two times, contactsd.servive stopped before doing anything and rebooted after moving the related db files in the directory of interest.

did you check file / path permissions ? I will make a test and let you know

Yes, file permissions checked, thrice.

Any other hints? I still did not manage to get it working? Is there really no way to export the contacts as vcf files directly from contacts.db?
