To be completely honest I'm upset I can't use this phone. From what I understand this is a hardware issue with the antenna. This is completely ridiculous they would change the hardware between the Jolla C and the Intex. I want to know from someone who has knowledge of the issue if they think this will ever be fixed. Please tell me this can be fixed!

You can't 'fix' a different antenna.

what the hell does "too localized" mean

The Aqua Fish was never marketed outside India. The bands it supports are mainly for the Indian market. So yes - it's a pity that the phone isn't fully useable for you, but the bands it supports are documented so no, definitely not a bug (That's why I removed the tag)!

There was a lot of discussion whether other bands could be unlocked. This is very unlikely:

  1. statements from Jolla say that there are (minor) differences in hardware between Jolla C and Aqua Fish (as you yourself pointed out - the antenna)
  2. There were several attempts (see here e.g. or some threads on TMO), so far no one succeeded.

BTW: I am not from the US, so no idea how widespread the support is, but 4G - band 5 (850 MHz) which is supported by the Aqua Fish is used by some US operators according to this list. .

I know they support the 850 band my phone says 4G with full bars however I can't make calls. I think India uses 800 for 4G.

@diego318. Having 4G coverage and making calls are two complete different things. Since SFOS does not support VoLTE, it has to fallback to either 3G or 2G for being able to establish a call. 4G is used for data connection only. Therefore, you also need to be connected to a supported 3G or 2G band.
