How can I use a SailfishOS device without registering an account at Jolla?
I've read Why is it required to open an account in order to receive software updates? and found all answers unsatisfying and partially even ignorant.
What I'd like to know (for a friend) is not "why" but rather "how to not", i.e. how to use a SailfishOS device without registering an account at Jolla.
It can't be that this privacy feature is possible even with Android devices (might depend on the manufacturer there though), but not with Jolla.
Open an account with fictitious data.

however, do you need an account for pkcon ?

XTaran ( 2017-06-29 21:44:33 +0200 )editbecause you need account credentials to access update repositories. there is no way to update device without account.
