What are your expectations of SailfishOS Xperia X port?

Let´s hope this endeavor will lead to more app developers, windows phone just died from lack of it, but at least we have support for many android apps, but so did Blackberry...

Still not sure if I want to replace my dying Jolla C with one or go back to Jolla 1 and hope for a release on a smaller Sony device, but nobody knows how long that would be, if they even decide to, I want an officially supported port. I hope this will not turn out like android and windows phone where a phone only is supported with official updates for like a year or so. I guess this will end with 2 dead jolla phones for me and no chance to get a Xperia X because it sold out=/

I think they should have gone for the modular fairphone 2, one of the biggest problems we have had with the Jolla devices are replacement parts, and now we get the choice to jump to a discontinued product where we have to viod warranty from the get go.

I don´t know what to do here either. My only phones are Jolla 1 and Jolla C. And my main phone Jolla C has broken rear camera and a broken headphone jack. Not sure how long my Jolla 1 would last if I go back to it, it´s pretty worn out too. But everything works except a lot of green (dead?) pixel clouds on the edges of the screen, but they have been there forever. A better built phone would be nice though... Unfortunately there is not telling how many Xperia X are left in stock in Sweden. Hmm, perhaps I can ask.

Not really a realistic expectation, but would be really good for features and security (not to mention tinkering) - SailfishOS built on top of this:

What I expect is: be able to install that port (officially) on a Sony Xperia X Compact ASAP. As the hardware is almost identical (despite screen and battery AFAIK) to the Xperia X's (F5121) hardware the official port now is aimed for, this shouldn't be that difficult I presume?

I dont expect much only a real release, I found Xperia X around 300€, but I have no motivation to buy it... for me does not make any sense buy a phone (expensive for me) for more wait to a SFOS release.

On the other hand if I dont buy it now, when SFOS will released, maybe Xperia X will be discontinued and very hard to find. I dont know what to do.

easy installation of sfos on it full working sfos, esp phone, sms, internet, installation of native apps via warehouse and jolla store, terminal no google pray installed frequent updates

Well if we all by new and expensive hardware than I think the benefit should be clear: A faster system and usage of the better camera. As an enthusiast I would have always been okay with spending some more money for some better hardware. Especially the camera always bothered me on the Jolla 1. So in my opionion better speed and the full usage of the camera should be the main goals.

The thing i hope/expect most is to get some traction going with app developers. We need a lot of stuff and new HW might attract people to write new/better apps.

Also i hope sony and jolla to work together to bring us mainline kernels.
