I cannot connect my Jolla1 to my German Telekom router Speedport W724 V typ B, with the message:

"Sorry.Could not connect to selected network." which comes after few seconds of waiting.

Remarkably, following retries by reentering the PSK bring then an immediate negative response (which uses the words "connection refused").

All other routers I had occasion to try have worked well.

I bought the used phone five months ago and the problem showed up from the very beginning. At home I had then to work up to now with the cellular net and 4G.

  • A solution would be very helpful.
  • But firstly: how can I look inside the happenings of the WLAN connections and their logs?

After the OS added today the words "uncorrect password" in its messages, I tried with a much shorter PSK on my Speedport. And that brought the solution!

My original PSK was 26 characters long. Now I have a working one which is about half so long (but has the same level of complexity, with lower+upper case+figures+special characters). And now everything seems to work.

And: Ubuntu/Unity, Sabayon/Kde4 and Windows 7 on my Thinkpads have no problem with the original long PSK.

  • The working WLAN shows now these syslog messages:

$ sudo journalctl -x --merge | grep --color=YES -i -e frauenschuh -e wlan0 #
