Eduroam support broken
Since the update to 2.1.1.23 I cannot connect to the eduroam WLAN. Previously it was configured with the Roamer app and worked flawlessly. See configuration details:
- Network name (SSID) eduroam
- Security WPA2 Enterprise
- Authentication EAP-TTLS
- Encryption AES
- Root-CA-Certificatie Deutsche Telekom Root CA 2 Authentication
- Server radius.uni-ulm.de
- Inner Authentication PAP
- Outer identity anonymous@uni-ulm.de
- Inner identity max.muster@uni-ulm.de (individual kiz-Email)
I cannot confirm that. For me, eduroam works in 2.1.1.23 as it did before...
lpr ( 2017-07-27 12:02:08 +0300 )editI can confirm that the update broke the eduroam support also for me.
Alex ( 2017-07-28 09:41:45 +0300 )editOk I got it solved for me:
Earlier I also changed the config file permissions to
Alex ( 2017-07-28 10:19:33 +0300 )edit-rwx------
- but this didn't solve the issue and I tried the things mentioned above. In which state is your WLAN before step 1?
carolus ( 2017-07-28 10:48:50 +0300 )edit@carolus IIRC it was deactivated. :)
BTW my university is using EAP-TLS MSCHAPv2 eduroam (with user certificates).
Alex ( 2017-07-28 10:53:57 +0300 )editThat's probably why it is still not working for me, since we have TTLS and PAP here.
carolus ( 2017-07-28 10:56:19 +0300 )editIn the first step I renamed my config file from wifi_eduroam.config to wifi_eduroam.config.tmp so connman does not know that there once existed an eduroam config... Does this solve it for you?
Alex ( 2017-07-28 11:00:28 +0300 )edit@Alex That is exactly the same what I did. But after this the eduroam disappears from the list, so that I cannot deactivate it. I think there come two bugs together: One concerns usage of the existing config and the other is related to the TTLS-PAP stuff.
carolus ( 2017-07-28 11:06:50 +0300 )editOh sorry I think I swapped step 1 with 2. First try the second step and then the first step. (sorry just sitting in a lecture and I am somewhat unconcentrated :D)
Alex ( 2017-07-28 11:09:15 +0300 )edit@Alex I tried everything in different orders, but it still doesn't work.
carolus ( 2017-08-02 11:33:12 +0300 )edit@carolus Please first try the 6 steps (at the bottom of this comment) and report if this solves the issue for you.
Otherwise here are all steps I did (iirc):
-rwx------
(my file was accessible by normal user before and not executable so I tried that out but this still did not the trick)wifi_eduroam.config
towifi_eduroam.config.tmp
wifi_eduroam.config.tmp
towifi_eduroam.config
againThe above steps are just results from my trial-and-error method - I suppose the following steps will also solve the issue:
- Deactivate WIFI
- Change the config file name from
- Activate WIFI so that connman sees that there is no eduroam config anymore and removes this accesspoint/service (you will see that the eduroam network disappears from the WIFI list)
- Deactivate WIFI again
- Create the new file
- Activate WIFI and you should be able to connect to the eduroam network again
Alex ( 2017-08-02 13:46:01 +0300 )editwifi_eduroam.config
towifi_eduroam.config.tmp
wifi_eduroam.config
as root user (devel-su), put all the content fromwifi_eduroam.config.tmp
into this file and remove the oldwifi_eduroam.config.tmp
file (optionally change permissions so that nemo user is not able to read your file)@Alex I exactly followed your steps and it is still not working. I just get the message „Verbindungsproblem”. Probably „problem with the connection“ in English.
carolus ( 2017-08-02 14:19:26 +0300 )editDid you try to reboot device/restart network?
Maybe you also moved your certificate files by mistake? Check if the password and config file content is still correct.
Are you renaming/creating the files via terminal, via file browser or via roamer app? I did it via terminal as root.
Alex ( 2017-08-02 14:27:04 +0300 )editI also rebooted the device and I also checked certificate and password. When I try connmanctl I get the following error message:
