Since Yahoo made some changes in their IMAP servers, sailfish mail-client fails to retrieve messages. (Sending mails with smtp server works). If you delete your Yahoo account, you will not be able to create it again with IMAP, just with POP. The reason is the IMAP authentication needs to be "plaintext", automatic selection seems not to detect it. I could fix this problem in Claws-mail desktop-client switching the imap authentication from "automatic" to "plaintext". (note the difference between "PLAIN" and "plaintext") In sailfish mail-client you cannot manualy choose this setting, so my request: please add the possibility to access more detailed server settings.

Walter

ps: in the meantime I use www.fluentmail.com to read my yahoo mail

FWIW, my observation is that the current authentication method used by General Email account for Yahoo is "2" which is "plaintext", and the account starts working only after setting it to "1", i.e. "Login". These observations are made by using ag-tool.

The change to login as an authentication method for Yahoo is also mentioned on Yahoo forum here: https://forums.yahoo.net/t5/Temporary-Errors/Unable-to-access-IMAP-since-about-one-week/m-p/304046#M64946

I second the request to ask for more imap settings and upvoted this, however i can conferm that 'Login' works as in the method described by lfc22 here: link text So we yahoo users especially need an option for 'Login' in the UI (as a temporary solution, it'd be great if someone could help on how to permanently SAVE these settings from a terminal as we can already change them with the ag-tool)

Yes, we need an option to change authentication methods for e-mail accounts, as it is currently not working for Yahoo's IMAP :(

It might be an issue on server side at yahoo, independent from MUA in use. As same issue is reported by many others currently too. http://downdetector.com/status/yahoo-mail https://forums.yahoo.net/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?advanced=false&allow_punctuation=false&filter=location&location=category:accounthelp&q=imap%20login
