Since upgrading my Jolla C to 2.1.1.23 (and now 2.1.1.24) I get this message frequently, saying I have to reboot to restore calling functionality. However, both incoming and outgoing calls work even without a reboot. I haven't figured out any pattern as to when it shows up but it does so rather quickly after I accept and reboot the phone.

Anyone else experienced this? Since the phone works I wouldn't label this as a serious bug but for the more obedient user it would cause quite a few reboots.:)

EDIT: It's appeared twice more for me since posting this, once a bunch of hours after reboot and once like 10 minutes after. If I interpret the message correctly it means no cellular functions at all should be available? calls/text/data? Since the message and function are implemented: When is this failure mode expected?

Yes - once, after the upgrade to ...23. I was busy and ignored it, intending to come back to the message later, but it had disappeared. All seemed OK.

In case it's relevant: I have 2 SIMs in, and the service on #1 is poor to non-existant. I also don't use the phone much, so rarely >3 hrs since boot: maybe why it's not recurred.

@DaveRo I have 2 SIMs in mine too, but one is disabled. I'll try to remove and swap them around a bit and see if this persists!

there are a few threads regarding missed calls and sms messages. this message might be the announced workaround.

i.e. i was multiple times multiple hours not reachable even though phone did show i was connected

Now that you say it this has happened with my Jolla C before too. And this evening the message was there and a caller did not get through, so maybe it is indicative of a problem! SMS did pass through though, that's how I knew I missed the call.:)

Maybe this message is to be taken seriously after all...

Presumable this
https://together.jolla.com/question/145376/bug-jolla-c-could-not-receive-smsphone-call/
which mentions the workaround "Ask user to reboot device after rild restart."

Do we know what triggers a rild restart?
