Hi,

after update to 2.1.1.24 I encounter few problems with my headset - Sony MDR-ZX770BN. All of them might be related to the bluetooth update, so I'm writing in in the single issue.

Whenever I turn on my headset, it connects to Jolla, I get white bluetooth indicator, but it can be used only for calling. Music is still played through the Jolla built-in speaker. I have to go to the settings and disconnect and reconnect and afterward it is played from headset. But at the point, headset isn't detected and showed as an option during calls.

Next problem is that the controls on the headset doesn't work anymore to skip or pause while playing music.

So far I tried re-pairing, but it didn't helped. My suspicion is that the headset can be used only with one profile at the time, but there is no easy way to select or switch the profiles. But no idea about the controls.

Did you already try to change the bluetooth device type in 'Settings > Bluetooth > longpress on your BT device > select 'show device settings' > change 'type' '?

Tried setting it as Loudspeakers instead of headphones, but it still connects first as handsfree and only after reconnecting as media sink.

Did you read the linked question? Especially my comment there:

The release notes contain the following entry:

Routing low quality audio (8 kHz mono) to Bluetooth headsets not meaningful - SCO audio disabled for media use cases (non-call).

I suppose this is the root cause of your issue.

I read it, but haven't found the solution or anything to try, but I guess it is related - we both have problems with bluetooth, just slightly different ones.

My headphones support both profiles - can be used for calling and but also for multimedia playback. In previous version I connected them and media playback was using high quality playback and calls were using the crappy one without me needing to change anything.

@miska. I guess you are using Julla C? I have original Jolla and it works ok at least for listening to music. Tried with jabra Move v 2.30 headphones and BeaconAudio Blazar speaker pair. Both work, although have to admit that Blazar pair took few tries to get working as I wanted (did system reset and changed devide name, so lost previous pairing info). The speaker pair can also be used for answering calls just like the headphones.

Jolla lists available profiles as HSP, A2DP, ACRCP and HFP for both devices.

Additionally the headset acts differently with Jolla 1 and Jolla C, respectively.

  • On Jolla 1 it behaves exactly as described in OP. When finally connected, buttons for RWD, FWD and PAUSE work well with media player.
  • On Jolla C it connects at once, but those on-headset control buttons do not work at all.

BTW, also the bypass of system sounds to the phone's loudspeaker (while connected to BT speakers/headsets) behaves differently.
