Why does not the ambience change automatically when I change the other half? When installing the back cover, Jolla simply offers to reinstall the same ambience... I have 3 other halfs, and with all three I have problems. (Poppy Red Limited Edition, Snow White, TOHKBD Funky OH)

SF 2.1.0.11 | but this was also observed earlier (starting with SF 2.0 +)

The concept is dead.

Please don't expect any more development in this field and don't wait for a fix for the current problems, they are not forthcoming I'm pretty sure, however, I will eat large helpings of humble pie if something does happen!

I tried to garner the attention of @Jaakko Roppola (designer @jolla) who stated almost 4 years ago on a blog, that "ambience can be so much more!".....errr, yeah, WHEN Jaako?, oh, my bad, did I mention that Jaakko Roppola no longer works for Jolla?, so I wonder who will be taking creative direction with the dead TOH/ambience idea....?

On a lighter note, I have several TOH covers, all are installed across 3 Jolla1's. Only one of my devices actually changes to its ambience when the cover is attached, the other 2 offer to install the already installed ambience, so if you do try to install it, nothing happens, no error, no message, no nothing. Manually removing the ambience and then attaching your TOH again prompts for installation, upon installation, still the new ambience is not changed to, even though it is 'favorited' by default within its own '.ambience' file: ( "Favorite" : true, ).

Typing systemctl --user restart ambienced.service into terminal then brings the ambience to life, but really?, we have throw commands at it to make it work sometimes?, yawn!, sorry, very bored with the idea/concept and I see no further development at least not in the last 4 years. One or two changes were made to a few wallpapers and they were not for the better.....lol, Ambience Snow White got updated from light blue/white stripes to black with white dots in arc formations, they should have renamed it to Ambience-Blizzard, as you cannot see fuck all on the screen when it is in 'action'! :D

'nuff said.

p.s. the TOH you refer to as Poppy Red limited edition is actually The First One TOH which happens to be poppy red in colour. The then (later) Poppy Red TOH was marketed but was not a limited edition - albeit they are totally limited now!, buy one?, where?, not from shop.jolla.com as it no longer exists......Regards,

The question was solved by resetting the settings to the factory settings (version SFOS 1x +), then installing oh each TOH, then updating the SFOS to the current version (2.1.1.24 on my test device)

Now, when I install the TOH, the ambience changes again automatically! :)

In Sailfish 3.0, the automatic ambience change is completely removed (when changing the back panel). However, the phone identifies TOH.

NFC reader on device or NFC chips on the Other halves may be broken.

[edit] it's been a long time since I booted my First One but there may be an NFC test in the 'csd' utility (open terminal and type csd or there is a number you can enter via the dialler that I can't remember; search here for csd)

NFC is working. I tested the method you specified, everything is in order. All my "other halfs" it's working. I repeat - Jolla "sees the other half", but does not automatically change the situation, as it was before. This is a completely different problem, and what exactly I would like to know ...

I had the same problem. I also was tried to find out, what was wrong. Only a factory reset solved this issue.

ExPLIT, so, you returned to version 1x +, and then installed the other half, and then updated your phone to the current version of Sailfish?
