Can someone help me please? After a reboot this morning, I have only a white screen. The operating system starts normal. I can hear the autostart app situation reports a profilechange (about command line paplay a sound). The white screen don't acept any actions. I think it could hang on the patch weather on the lockscreen or on Mazelock. I hope someone has a solution. Otherwise, I will try this evening to disable the patches in recovery mode with "-u". But maybe there is a trick just about the keys? Or how can I make a hard reset like N9 (8s Power an a other key don't work on this system)? Thanks in advance.

I give the answer by myself because other users looking maybe also the same solution. Note: In Sailfish 2.1.1.26 there are many small changes in the use of recovery mode. It is Version 2.0 now.

  1. First I bring my Jolla C in recovery mode with:
  2. switch off the phone complete (if is not possible take out the battery)
  3. hold permanently the Volume Up (the button on the upper end of the phone)
  4. now press also the power button until the phone vibrates then release both buttons
  5. now you see no Jolla Logo because new is only a small line "recovery mode...telnet 10.42.66.66" on the black screen
  6. Manage the connection between phone and Windows PC
  7. connect the phone with a pc via usb (in my case a Dell 830 Win 8)
  8. a standard driver will be installed
  9. so wait until the device manager will show this as device "RNDIS" under "Other Devices" (can take some time)
  10. update manual the driver with a "Remote NDIS Compatible Device" from Microsoft
  11. then install putty from here: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html
  12. Start Putty
  13. set Host Name to "10.42.66.66"
  14. select "Telnet" as the Connection type
  15. select "only on clean exit"
  16. select the button "Open" 4 Recovery Mode 2.0 is starting as a windows like a dos windows
  17. input Number 3 + Enter for using shell
  18. select "Y" for execute this function
  19. if you have a lock code input it (do not be surprised, nothing is displayed in the window) + Enter
  20. if it correct you will see "acepted"
  21. now use command "chroot /rootfs" + Enter (in this version of recovery mode you don't need mount commands)
  22. to deactivate all patches you input "patchmanager --unapply-all" + Enter
  23. you will see a list of all unapply patches (with ".../n" on the end)
  24. input two times "exit" + Enter
  25. Unplug the usb connection
  26. Restart the phone and it will work

The important thinks I have from here also that sometimes is necessary to reinstall "lipstick-jolla-home-qt5 package" after unapply patches.

I try this but it doesn't work "...no connection to package..." Maybe it is a other way with 2.1.1.26 or this work not in shell. I am also not shure if the first line was also a reason for fixing of my bug because it was possible. I use this codes:

ssu re 2.1.1.26

ssu ur

pkcon refresh

pkcon install lipstick-jolla-home-qt5

I hope it will be helps all other Jolla fans...

Update 2017-09-06: It works without reinstall lipstick. I had this white screnn two times again if I search the false patch. Now it was it only 2 min for unpatching in recovery mode. After the line to unpatch you have to wait some times, because this take a while.

Update 2017-09-09: The reason for the white screen bug is the patch "animated ambience". Don't use this with 2.1.1.26! I found it out with activating patch for patch.

if you have wifi on and often do ssh connection to you phone (at home for example), you simple can do it from putty without recovery mode, just /usr/bin/patchmanager -u PATCH_NAME and reboot your phone...

great post thanks ! on windows 10 you need to go to the old-fashion device manager to update the driver. in the bluetooth & other devices nothing will happen and can be done. in device manager say change settings, type in your pwd and then you can update the driver.

@pawel, I used recovery mode on win 10 a couple of times without any problem. Once it not worked for me on usb 2.0, but worked on usb 3.0... Why, don't know...

I am glad to find this post because my jollaC just represented a white screen. But unfortunately it did not work for me. Everything happened as you write until reboot, but then white screen reappeared, as if I hadn't done anything :( it's weird, I just don't understand why it happens. I got the jollaC today and have installed everything on it now.
