Getting a Jolla 1 updated without the boot loop issue...

I totally destroyed the display on my Intex Aquafish (GREAT phone, very sad about it), and so I ordered the Sony 5121 and dug out my Jolla 1 to use in the mean time.

I can't get the fucker working! The early OS version doesn't recognise the SIM, and everytime I update, on the 1.5 update it gets stuck in a boot loop. I do the recovery mode, option '5) Try BTRFS recovery if your device is in bootloop' and get nowhere. The phone is always stuck in a boot loop. So I restore to factory state, and start updating, but I can't get past the 1.5 update.

Any ideas?! Is there any way to get it updated directly?

I can SSH into the aquafish so can do basic things but would much prefer the Jolla with a working screen.

You don't need to install version 1.1.5

Here you have tutorial about UPDATING EARLY OS VERSIONS: https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201836347-How-do-I-download-and-install-a-System-Update-an-OS-update-

Maybe skipping version 1.1.5 will solve your problem.

thanks for the article, but I realise now it's the 1.19.30 upgrade that causes the boot loop, and it seems there is no way to fix it. I don't recall having this issue before.

It's just boot looping and the option 5 doesn't help at all.
