“ Remorse timer is the best of Sailfish . Few think why to wait for 5 sec for a single action ( probably Not true as we can continue with other activities ) . Many tend to wait for the completion if they work on the same page . So adding an DO IT NOW BUTTON on the remorse action bar will make it easy & faster appealing .”

this was discussed in the last community and got good response .so i decided to bring it here .

Please follow this thread , so that jolla will prioritize it in in the next update .

I think no one dis- likes it as its an additional option which doesn't bother if you don't use it .You could follow though as it may help needies !

pls comment your thoughts !

Edit 1 : 1.Bar can be made into 2 fragments - major portion for Cancel & right end for Now Button . this will reduce frustrating Click results . 2.Settings Option to change Time of remorser timer can be made default.(Atleast We need to showcase how customizable the Os is to Buyer's by adding these type of basic UI customizations in Settings itself )

Edit 2 :

example : Assume i am deleting ( take gallery )

1.First set (multiple items ) wait 5 sec 2.another set wait 5 sec 3. another set wait 5 sec

for 3 attempts the waiting time is 15sec .it keeps on multiplying whether i am waiting on same app or another app. Atlast time is wasted !

parallel is not the answer because the contents position changes making it disgusting

My timer is set to 2 seconds and things like deletion can be started in parallel.

I do not need do it now.

The remorse bar is supposed to be tapped to cancel the action. Adding a button that does the opposite on it can lead to quite frustrating results.

Option to change remorse time is needed. I made this by patch and set it to 2 seconds and now I'm happy person.

Situations where your actions can be destructive fall in two categories:

  1. Those situations when you can just continue doing whatever you want to, because your progress is not hindered by the fact that the destructive action has not yet happened (examples include deleting an image from gallery, etc.). Obviously you do not need any tool to speed up the remorse timer in such cases.

  2. Situations where you actually have to wait until the remorse timer is finished (example: turning the Flight Mode on). In my opinion, in such cases user must be simply presented with a conventional "Are you sure? Y/N" dialog. There is nothing wrong in making the look and feel a little bit inconsistent if it improves the UX. (And it's not like Jolla itself didn't introduce quite a few inconsistencies into the UI).

In any case, adding a tap button which has "destructive" role into an area tapping on which has "saving" role is a horrible idea.

First one is not destructive though . Coming to the second one , Jolla introduced remorse bar as an alternative to Alert dialog

How is deleting an image from gallery «not destructive»?

parallel is not the answer as content position changes making it disgusting so i think the proposed method is far better

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately its not available for the tablets & is not oriented correctly !

I copied the patch folder to tablet and it worked perfectly for me.. What you mean not oriented correctly ?

Schturman ( 2017-09-10 13:46:18 +0200 )edit

The bar appears top aswell as over the content itself. If its in top the button is on the left and is in right if it is over . It keeps changing without any order .

@Schturman the checkbox button works as advertised! wonderfull, installed it and now pretty much override 90% of remorse timers.

I think so , i will keep this thread active for 7 days .if it is not noted i will close this . Because, Older thread suggests swipe ( Rising finger top & then swipe - is not going to be good ) and the thread Is being mixed with other options

@coderus I will make sure of it

You can always add own option to wiki post ;)

coderus ( 2017-09-10 13:26:49 +0200 )edit

If it had less info ,i would have added mine . It was even updated by a jolla admin , so its far better not to get any misunderstanding !

:)

By the way i am your fan here ! do you have any social account ?
