I'm unable to set location for weather app. I can search and add locations while the app is open, but nothing shows up in events view and next time I launch Weather there are no locations saved.

@Mohjive ~ It is possible you haven't enabled 'Weather' in Settings/Events view page?, without that enabled, no weather forecasts are shown in Events view.

It's enabled and I have the "Set your location" at the top of the events view. If I tap it the weather app is opened, but nothing I do in the weather app changes the location for the events view.

Hmm, have you tried removing sailfish-weather app and reinstalling?

Yes, did just that before posting here :)

Okay. I've removed the .json file from .local/share/sailfish-weather/weather.json, rebooted the device and now in Events view, I have 'Set your location', tapped that, into weather app, added my home town and few around me and am able to select and show any of my choices in events view. All working as expected for me. Side note: I don't have any patches for weather or events view installed, do you?

The file .local/share/sailfish-weather/weather.json was emtpy and write protected. Removing it and rebooting solved the issue.

Glad you got sorted. Makes you wonder how the file became write protected in the first place.

can someone explain how to do this for a novice?

yiannako ( 2019-04-27 18:28:45 +0300 )edit

how do i remove the file? i recently moved to a new city and i just want to be able to see accurate weather data from my home screen or notifications panel

@yiannako - using a file browser, navigate to the URL as given in the answer and simply delete it. I suggest File Browser by Kari found in Jolla Store. When you have installed it, open it and pull down on the page for pulley menu, tap Settings and select "Show hidden files", back to the main page...navigate/delete.

In my case, the file in question was not write-protected. Rebooting is not necessary either. Just make sure the Sailfish Weather app is not open when you are removing the file. Once the .json file is deleted, open Weather app and you should be prompted to "Pull down to select your location".
