KNOWN ISSUES AND FEATURES NOT YET SUPPORTED ON 2.1.3.5

  • Bluetooth: implementation not complete (beta)
  • Waking up the device by double-tap does not work
  • New pictures may appear at the end of the Gallery
  • WPA2 Enterprise connection fails after first entering an incorrect password
  • Sensors:
    • not working: fingerprint, barometer, step counter
    • compass (or gyro?) working in Google Maps, not yet natively
  • Internet sharing (WLAN hotspot, tethering) does not work. However, it can be turned on at the command line: help article
  • Issues with video playback and video recording
  • FM radio missing
  • Even though all CPU cores get eventually enabled, foreground apps do not always run on the big cores

Why can´t I buy this Sailfish OS to my Xperia? If I press buy now, I will get answer "Sorry, not available in your country". When it is available in Finland?

Does this strictly for 5121 only? I have 5122.

Just flashed, looks great! :D - But now I'm puzzling why I installed Windows in a VM and installed EMMA...

My Xperia is now flashed too! Great work Jolla! Hopefully you can get these fixed soon: -Waking up the device by double-tap does not work -Internet sharing (tethering) does not work

Otherwise flashing went smoothly, but it took some time to download everything and have Android Studio installed (to get the bootloader unlocked)... after everything was ready to go, the bat script that flashes the phone was executed in just two minutes and Sailfish was ready to use.

Bug

Regarding the upcoming RC4 update, do you plan to update the kernel a tiny bit ?

  • The current Sailfish X 2.1.3.5 uses a slightly older 3.10.84 kernel (same as Sony's Android 6.0.1 Mashmallow) , which has a bug causing some muSDHC and muSDXC card to not even be detected when inserted in the tray (it's not an exFAT partition format problem. The slot doesn't even detect the presence of a card in the tray to begin with. No /dev/mmcblk1 device ever gets created)
  • The kernel version 3.10.10x-something-ish currently used in the most up-to-date Sony official firmware (34.3.A.0.238 / Android 7.1.1 Nougat) has the bug fixed and the same Xperia X phone can detect the presence in the tray of the same cards that are invisible to Sailfish X

Feature Request

Also bonus point if you could either activate support for BTRFS (or at least turn on the support for modules so we could add them ourselves).

The AOSP binary packages for Nougat and Oreo are packed with kernel 4.4. Also, a Jolla employer has said in a IRC chat that they may update the kernel in some later Sailfish X release. That seems a major effort to me, so don't hold your breath just yet... Let's hope :)

Bug

Go in Settings, Time and date, turn on "Automatic update" and the time zone changes to "Finland, Helsenki"

Expected behaviour: Turning on "Automatic update" must not change time zone!

Is 'Finland, Helsinki' not correct time zone? To my understanding changing timezone is the behavior normally in case 'automatic update' of time is selcted.

abanai ( 2017-10-12 07:47:25 +0300 )edit

Do you mean that wrong time zone gets selected?

Joona Petrell ( 2017-10-12 09:31:25 +0300 )edit

@Joona Petrell yes, turning on "Automatic update" changes the time at "Finland, Helsenki" time zone. On jolla1 this works fine and there isn't this bug, but on xperia x it changes time zone and the time.

paolomi ( 2017-10-12 09:48:13 +0300 )edit

@paolomi Please provide more information:

  • What timezone do you live in?
  • What country do you live in?
  • Does the device show the correct time (e.g. in the lock screen) when the Helsinki timezone is shown?
  • Is your SIM card operator a Finnish company?

@paolomi Had the same problem. OS needs an inserted SIM card otherwise won't find time zone, and everything messed up. If you haven't done so, restart device with a SIM card, and also you might need to reset your device. I don't know if it still continues to work if you remove your SIM card and then work via wifi.

[BUG] : No voicemail notification with Sailfish X (with or without this release). It's ok for the J1 but not with the Sony. So this bug is to re-open : https://together.jolla.com/question/8779/no-notification-when-new-voicemail/ or https://together.jolla.com/question/128509/bug-no-more-voicemail-notification/
