Hey guys, on my Xperia X the compass doesn't work. Can you confirm this issue? Btw, apart from that I really love my Xperia X :-)

I cannot find the link, but I remember reading that that was not supported at the moment.

From https://together.jolla.com/question/168541/release-notes-213-kymijoki-for-sony-xperia-x/:

KNOWN ISSUES AND FEATURES NOT YET SUPPORTED ON 2.1.3.5 - Bluetooth: implementation - not complete (beta) - Waking up the device by double-tap does not work - New pictures may appear at the end of the Gallery - WPA2 Enterprise connection fails after first entering an incorrect password - Sensors: - not working: fingerprint, barometer, step counter - compass (or gyro?) working in Google Maps, not yet natively - Internet sharing (tethering) does not work - Issues with video playback and video recording - FM radio missing - Even though all CPU cores get eventually enabled, foreground apps do not always run on the big cores

Thanks for the information! Wow, that is actually an impressive todo-list for Jolla. Hopefully the Xperia will be fully functional soon, since Sailfish OS feels just great on this phone!!

Its not just that the compass isnt working in Alien Dalvik, its not working oeriod, in Sailfish native apps as well.

Should be fixed in Sailfish OS >= 2.2.1.x

Looks like the problem was that some devices require that in addition to merely activating compass sensor also a sampling rate needs to be explicitly set before the sensor actually starts reporting values - and due to bugs in sensorfwd sampling rate requests made by client applications never reached the underlying android sensors hal.

based on official Sony informations, some sensors will be not available at all without DRM. Those are:

  • Step Counter,
  • Step Detector,
  • Significant motion detector (whatever that is)
  • Game rotation vector
  • Geomagnetic rotation Vector

Source: https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/supported-devices-and-functionality/current-platform-functionality-maintained/ (select Xperia X).

@potski Fix exists, but has not been released yet -> "in sfos 2.2.1.x" as in: "When the next update becomes available."

Usually in one or two weeks after release to the EA group.

You are right, it's not available to non-EA. Anyway, the fix works so Jolla has no more work to do beside releasing it.

I added the link to the release notes. it says there 1-2 weeks after EA it is usually released to the public.

thanks
