I am using the official cable headphones packaged with the Xperia X. Its play/pause button works nicely with native Sailfish apps (Media), but has no effect at all in Android apps (e.g. Touchfield, Audible). So each time someone wants to talk to me, I have to dig for my phone, unlock it, and find the app's pause button. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Help appreciated.

EDIT2: I also tried this with some cheap bluetooth headphones, same behaviour: The play/pause button works for native but not for Android apps.

Re-tagging this as a bug :-(

Doesn't seem to be a problem that is exclusive to Sailfish X (but I can confirm it is present). The same is true on my Jolla C. Since the controls are already on the lock screen, this should be easy enough to add for Jolla and quite a nice addition indeed.

I had hoped for some "In dev mode, open terminal, then type this..." solution. But thinking about it, it is actually the Android-Support component that needs to be hooked up with the native control interface. And being a proprietary component, I'll have to wait for Jolla to do that. Oh well...

same for me. i have jp1 & jabra revo wireless, and with amazon music works only the sound control. But mostly, i download my music on the phone and use Muuzik! or quasarMX. both are cool. Just miss a native music streaming app...

don't think that's a bug, but a needed feature...

@cemoi71: What about CuteSpot?

Verdict after more testing: The Android integration does not support headphone play/pause signals, neither cable nor bluetooth. I had expected Android apps to be first-class citizens on Sailfish OS and behave equally well - at least that's what the promotional texts and documentation lead me to believe. Also, it is a serious usability issue for anyone depending on Android music/voice apps. Jolla, please make it work!

Android does detect it when I yank the cable headphone plug, or turn off the bluetooth headphones. This will stop audio playback in an "emergency", though it is hardly suitable for daily use.
