When Settings->Display->Orientation=Portrait, video recording happens in portrait even if the phone is physically positioned in landscape. Example on how it looks when video is played back on PC: screenshot.jpg

I honestly can't tell what your issue is - can you rephrase it without emotion? perhaps add screenshots? settings are in settings->apps->camera.

Which phone? On the Xperia X I don't have this behaviour.

Xperia X - screenshot added. I held the phone sideways as you do when taking a video and when I copied it to my laptop and played it back it comes out playing length ways instead, like an iPhone video. And the sound works then just takes a pause and is silent for 1/2 a second every 5 seconds or so as has been reported in previous versions of Sailfish. Description of the sound issue - https://together.jolla.com/question/152267/camera-video-recording-choppy-with-big-pauses-in-video-and-skips-in-audio/

It works for me for both video and photo - my display orientation is dynamic, maybe yours is portrait and the camera is getting confused? Like I said before, perhaps you want to edit your question and remove the emotion of it so that others can help you better. NB: people may not know what "like the iPhone" means as that requires folks to actually have an iPhone.

SymbianRefugee - I am getting very confused. What is your issue? orientation or sound? If it's sound, there is another question that was raised before this. If it's orientation, would you mind checking what I suggested?

This may or may not be a bug - it certainly seems unintuitive. If you have Settings->Display->Orientation=Portrait, video (at least) will record in portrait mode regardless of how the device is positioned. I have Orientation=Dynamic and the video file respects the original physical position of the phone. I'd imagine that it would also follow the rules of dynamic orientation (i.e., if you touch the screen while changing the physical orientation, the original orientation will remain).
