I loved the feature in my N9 being able to open multiple instances of my browser on different webpages at the same time. As the browser refreshes also in cover view, i could see several pages updating and could bring that one into foreground interesting me most.

As nowadays many"Apps" are just a presentation of a (mobile) webpage I'd prefer handling this through multiple browser instances instead installing those apps ...

Edit: this is possible with Webcat browser, but it would be great to have it available in the Jolla/Sailfish browser as well.

I second this one. It is different from the tab reloadung issue.

Interesting - yes, it works, though not very stable yet.

Good approach if available from bookmarks and from external links !

@teun check the answers to that link. There is a workaround which allows the poster to get the behaviour he asked for.

Use Sailfish native Webcat browser. It allows you to open web pages in multiple instances.

Lift from comments, here's How To:

  • "While browsing you can choose links by long press and then choose from options that appear: "Open in new window" (this is what you want) or "Open in new tab"

Yes, really. While browsing you can choose links by long press and then choose from options that appear: "Open in new window" (this is what you want) or "Open in new tab". At least this functionality is available in my Webcat Browser v0.8 downloaded from the Warehouse.

@Silwer editing that HowTo comment to your answer, I suppose it could be accepted as the correct one.

Btw, Webcat developer has promised to add into next release option also to open saved bookmarks in new windows (by long press at the bookmark link, there will be more options than current "Delete").

Newest version of Webcat browser allows to open multiple instances in parallel by e.g. long pressing bookmark

Problem solved by Webcat - congrats !!
