How to update Intex Aqua Fish? [answered]

It seems that the Intex Aqua Fish did run out of support. Has someone an idea, how to install updates on an Intex Aqua Fish?

The instructions in another thread to convert an Intex Aqua Fish (virtually) to a JollaC phone doesn’t work. I had to reset my phone after each trial.

I would like to buy Sailfish X for Sony Xperia, but I need two SIM card, which are not supported. So I would like to continue using my Intex Aqua Fish

What’s about the SSU option? It seems to be a regular way to update an Intex Aqua Fish. Could I register as a developer somewhere? I would anyway appreciate a professional developer program by Jolla.

I can't help you with the Aqua Fish, since I don't own one. Did you read the comments here https://together.jolla.com/question/148893/how-to-make-aqua-fish-to-think-its-jolla-c-not-modem/ ? Maybe someone else has the same problem. SSU should work on Aquafish.

You can active Early Access option using your Jolla account (https://account.jolla.com/), this option is intended for developers. Its only available for Jolla1, Jolla C, Jolla Tablet and Xperia X - AquaFish's updates are controlled by Intex.

It looks like, that Sailfish X also works with the Xperia X dual-SIM version (but not officially supported) - see here to learn more about it: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1534540&postcount=1061

As regards https://together.jolla.com/question/148893/how-to-make-aqua-fish-to-think-its-jolla-c-not-modem/ you don't say whether this was using Part 1 or Part 2. Currently my AquaFish converted using Part 1 method (Early Access option enabled) is running 2.1.2.3 Kilminkijoki which has been updated using ssu release 2.1.2.3 followed by version --dup

downside is it messed withe Aquafish Modem drivers to thinks its Jolla C disabled some functionality and i would recommend using stock SFOS in the Aquafush until Intex supports an update.

I agree to XFish's considerations. It seems, that a Jolla C and Intex Aqua Fish is not fully compatible. I asked the service of Intex, whether they will publish further updates, but didn’t receive any response. Maybe they publish the updates only on the second digit release level, like 2.2.x

Thanks alain and aspergerguy for the link to the article. The migration process in phase 1 failed. In my second trial I realised in infinite (logical) loop in the script, that requested for some decisions according the selection of libraries.

I’m a developer, but I haven't deep knowledge on the operation system level of Sailfish. An SSU update seems to me official, because this option is visible in the Intex version of Sailfish, but alain says, that the SSU program is - unfortunately - only offered for Jolly devices.

It would be nice, if a Jolla developer would read this article and confirm the compatibility or incompatibility. I’m currently just in a dialogue with a sales representative of Jolla for a partnership with delays of months in the communication. But this is another topic.

A hack to activate dual SIM of Xperia would be finde. Just for development the Intex Aqua Fish is ok, but I like the UX so much, that I would like to use a Sailfish phone as my productive one.

First enable developers mode in setting, this will add terminal icon in the menu.Open terminal type ssu re 2.1.2.3 followed by version --dup.No need to convert Intex aquafish to jolla c for this update. 2.1.2.3 update works fine with Intex Aquafish.

Thanks for your advice. I try to rephrase. The developer mode is necessary to execute shell scripts. I think it would also be possible to connect my computer via ssh with my phone, because it’s almost impossible to read the log of a script in the terminal window of the phone for eventually required interactions and error messages.

The terminal command is the following

ssu re 2.1.2.3 version --dup

Is that correct? Do I need an SSU account? If so, do I need to enter the account settings in the developer settings of Intex Aqua Fish. I can activate developer updates in the developer settings. If I activate developer settings, a dialog shows me the form for username, password and SSU domain.

Thanks for your help.

Ignore "Allow developer updates" and you are correct it is a lot easier to monitor terminal output if you SSH into device if above a certain age.

Is it necessary to activate the developer updates in the developer settings of the phone? If I activate the developer settings, a form asks for the username, password and SSU domain. It seems to me, that these user credentials are not the same as my Jolla account credentials. And don’t know the SSU domain.

Hello everyone,

Good news. I just checked this morning and update is available for my regular/normal Aqua Fish. And I successfully updated it too.

Once check for updates, it seems Intex has not left the support yet.

I just tried the new update 2.0.0 and it fails: ssu re 2.2.0 version --dup WARNING: ssu.ini does not seem to be writable. Setting values might not work.
