Videochat with alien dalvik does not work properly: the front camera is rotated 90° and of bad quality (on top of the image is a green-ish "ribbon". That behaviour is reproducible with various Android apps: I've tried WhatsApp, Skype, Skype Lite, Viber and even Opera with WebRTC.

Attached is the screenshot from my PC, the rotated image is from Xperia, it stays rotated 90° no matter the device's rotation: example from WebRTC chat

Using Signal the orientation is correct; quality and frame rate seem to be ok but the aspect ratio is wrong.

If orientation is incorrect, might it be related to the screen rotation lock? can you unlock so the screen can rotate and try it (without the screen rotated, just hte lock off)

in my case, the device's rotation is irrelecant. Any combination of rotation and lock still results in tiltted image from the cameras.

@Olsen do you have Sailfish X as well? Could you try some of the apps I have listed? I did not have this problem on Aqua Fish, maybe something is broken in the newer Alien Dalvik?

I can confirm similar problems here. SailfishX with Whatsapp; my face is rotated on the recipients phone and the video - as well as audio - quality is low. Also, and most problematically, the app does not work reliably, both video and audio suddenly stops at times. I had intended a 45 min video call which I had to quit after 20 min because the video and audio had stopped working a couple of times. Audio only worked well though.

I can report this issue also for threema. But its not the videocat. Here its the sent or received video files. No matter how i record them, after sending the videos are rotated 90°. There is an issue with the video rotation...

Problem is still there 1.5 years later. I've tried in whatsapp and with firefox's webrtc. Looks like the only way to have videochat in any form is by using android apps, and it doesn't work on X. Or are there any native apps with videocall function?

Same problem with the jitsi meet android app: both front and back cameras are rotated and with a green bar on the side. Looking more carefully, actually it's not a green bar: the blue and red channel are actually shifted to the right in the image.

Same problem with le latest 2.something (sorry i forgot what version i was on) and with the 3.0.0.8 i just flashed.

Sadly this issue is years old and unsolved. Sailfish and the camera are just no friends... Easily reproducible by using an android browser in Sailfish and opening qrscan.io, for example.

Pity there is no native Jitsi app yet. Someone who can develop it based on their open sourced code?
