Hi Guys, I have difficulty installing Sailfish OS on my Sony Xperia.

The installation is nightmare. First I always got the following error:

Searching a device with vendor id '0x0fce'.. You might be missing the required windows fastboot drivers for your device. Go to the Windows Device Manager and update the fastboot driver for the device.

I searched for the vendor id in Windows 10. The vendor id was right. ThanI checked fastboot with the following command: >>fastboot -i 0x0fce reboot<< Everything was good. I knew fastboot is ok. So I turned off the error message in the "flash-on-windows.bat". After that I started the bat_file again. I get the following error message: C:\TEMP\platform-tools>fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce flash oem SW_binaries_for_Xperia_AOSP_M_MR1_3.10_v13_loire.img target reported max download size of 134217728 bytes erasing 'oem'... FAILED (remote: Command not allowed) finished. total time: 0.004s

ERROR: Failed to execute 'fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce flash oem SW_binaries_for_Xperia_AOSP_M_MR1_3.10_v13_loire.img'.

FLASHING FAILED Please go to https://together.jolla.com/ and ask for guidance.

Now I have no idea what I can still try. Thanks for your help

'fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce flash oem SW_binaries_for_Xperia_AOSP_M_MR1_3.10_v13_loire.img

the loire platform is the one used by Xperia X phones (F5121 and F5122)

There's just no way you could ever flash this on a Xperia XA1 (G3121) phone. It's not even an official Sony Open Device so there's not even help from the manufacturer regarding flashing alternative firmware such as Sailfish X.

The "installation is a nightmare" in no way due to the community or due to Jolla.

As it says in multiple places including the official sales page at https://jolla.com/sailfishx/ Sailfish X is only for the Sony Xperia X, model number F5121 (single SIM) (It will also unofficially work on the Sony Xperia X, model number F5122 (dual SIM)).

Your device model is G3121, and is thus unsupported.

You can try to port Sailfish to your device, and for that you might want to look at the resources available for that at https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptation_Guide and https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptation_Guide/Step_by_step and https://sailfishos.org/develop/hadk/

If you need assistance with porting, try to contact someone in sailfish-porters on freenode.

You can also try to get an Xperia X that is supported and try flashing again.

I wanted to replace my old Jolla Phone. Of corse I bought the wrong phone. Certainly my mistake. (In the shop there were only two models, normal and compact. I am surprised that there are still a few more.) Then I asked "info@jolla.com" if I can use Solfish OS. I did not get an answer. I ordered Sailfish OS because I have an Xperia X. On "https://jolla.com/sailfishx/" is written "XPERIATM X" and no model number. Therefore my question on "info@jolla.com".

I had some trouble to unblock the new phone. Then I get a confusing error message. I checked fastboot but the problem was the wrong phone not the drivers. Should this not be written in the error message?

Now I have a useless software and a destroyed phone.

Possible solutions https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptation_Guide I am a normal user and this looks very complicated. I have no Linux PC and no idea how to compile a kernel. Is there a video for this? I like Sailfish OS and do not want to go back to Android. thanks

No, you don't have a Xperia X.

You will have to read a lot about flashing and recovering. You can also try to ask for help on talk.maemo.org or https://forum.xda-developers.com/ . But you won't be able to flash Sailfish on your phone (at least at your level of knowledge now).

The whole product page is very confusing and a mess to say the best. And I am writing this 2 years after your comment. If you create an accound now to download a Sailfish X you will get the exact Sony Device codes (FXYZ) etc. Without registration you will easily confuse Xperia X and XA1. I made the same mistake. Moreover the page claims you can test Exchange Support. Which is NOT the case.
