Is Sailfish Os safe to use without a safety program?
Unfortunately, using Jolla Store apps only is not sufficient. And how easy it is to take over even quality ensured apps has just been demonstrated with Google Chrome and apps showing advertisings suddenly (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Erweiterungen-fuer-Browser-Chrome-blenden-Werbung-ein-2088557.html, German only), fridges are spamming now (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Internet-of-Things-Mein-Kuehlschrank-als-Spammer-2088336.html, also German only). You at Jolla will not be able to ensure that you will detect malware quickly on each and all Jollas. A concept for protecting Sailfish is required and should include scanning (running local malware detection software may not be necessary as a general approach for all users but at least for more exposed users).

So we should be able to react quickly if need be. We will able to hotfix, blacklist, obsolete apps etc. But there is no need to take them into use yet.

TNZ ( 2014-01-20 10:45:47 +0300 )editPossibility of malwares on our Jolla is not huge. Sailors are responsives. Any backdoor, system weakness will not have a long lifetime. And malware makers focus on the number of terminal available AND the max lifetime before system update. A malware cleaner could be usefull in scan mode only. :)

TNZ ( 2014-01-20 11:17:41 +0300 )editFor the 3rd URL : Spyware shown by RMS is in Cannonical desktop environment implementation. The main issue, in this case, is Unity. Nothing in common with Sailfish. The best behaviour has just been given by @rainisto in his answer. :)
