At present the network mode is Prefer 4G/ Prefer 3G/Only 2G which is perfect for most users. My case though is a bit different. What happens is Im using 4G internet hotspot, and then due to signal fluctuation phone switches to 2G/3G and the internet starts crawling. So I have to enable Airplane mode and again disable it. Later phone connects to 4G and works fine for a while. Then again it switches to 3G/2G and affects internet. This is maddening. In my Android phone there is setting for only 4G/ Only 3G in addition to Prefer 4G/Prefer 3G. So when Im using android I set the phone to Only 4G and use hotspot. Similar setting in SFOS would be appreciated.

Contrary to popular belief, unless there is VoLTE support "Only 4G" makes no sense as it disables the ability to make a voice call. "Only 3G" makes sense from the security point of view too, as there is a wide gap of security provided by 2G and 3G.

@peremen Its interesting points you have raised. Yes, the android phone has 4G VoLTE support so only 4G setting works for them. The security point is interesting when thinking about Only 3G. I would prefer SFOS to choose Security over features. So +1 to your comment.

There used to be a patch available for that in Openrepos:

But it will not work on recent releases unfortunately.

Maybe someone or even Jolla can adopt it?

Or maybe videos coderus will find time someday.
