When I tries to run the SDK installer on my linux box I get the following exception when I press the first "Next".

Exception while loading the component script '://metadata//org.merproject/installscript.qs'. (TypeError: Cannot call method 'substring' of undefined)

I am running Funtoo Linux with KDE so there is a lot of Qt libraries installed (30 of them). I am using Qt 5.9.2 at the moment. It seems like I have the script components installed and given I am using KDE everything else would baffle me ;)

The installer I am using is SailfishOSSDK-Beta-1709-Qt5-linux-64-offline.run

So I found the answer.

In some distros you have to be added to the group vboxusers in order to run Virtualbox. I added myself to the group but forgot to logout and login again to make the group change effective. Basic unix really.

Once I logged out and in again it worked. Installation is just finished.
