Wouldn't it be wise to initiate dedicated collaboration meetings for SailfishX? I'm asking because, although SailfishX is still to be considered alpha or beta, it raises specific questions:

  • Active Sony commitment into the project

  • Specific hardware support (bluetooth, fingerprint sensor, FM radio...)

  • SFOS implementation issues (number and size of partitions, tiny rootfs not allowing installation of large apps)

  • Propagation to other Xperia devices

  • Long term support, licence transfer to new device

i don't think there i a better place to ask for those than the community meetings.

@ApB Maybe you are right, unless the group of interested participants is different (specialized development team, Xperia users, Sony inc.)

No. Just specific topics, and perhaps additional contributors, if SailfishX project involves different actors (from Sony Corporation for example).

I don't think that splitting the community meeting into two is a good idea. There are usually not that many questions in the meeting that a split would be sensible, so this would only take up even more time from Jolla.

OK, my proposal isn't really popular. However, the conclusion of Oct 18 meeting isn't likely to satisfy those who purchased (or are considering to) SailfishX plus an Xperia device to host it.

Quote: "no safe solutions exist to the two problems: losing 7 GB to factory reset, and too small system partition (rootfs); we'll have in mind to enlarge rootfs in future devices, for now just install less apps and use SD card ;) (sledges, 08:54:50)" End of quote

In my understanding, this means the issue may be only fixed for future devices, not Xperia X.
