If the event is attached as an ics file you can simply import it to your calendar by downloading it.
EDIT: It´s not as easy as in MS Outlook, but if you would put the text oft the email into the description field of the calendar event, you can do the following steps.
Open the email and choose reply. Copy the whole text of the mail to clipboard by marking it.
Open Calendar and create a new event. Paste the text from clipboard into the description field of the event. Edit date and time and give it a name. Save it.
Possibly contained phone numbers, mail adresses or internet links are clickable from the events description.
It´s not a comfortable way, but it´s the only one I know. I hope I could help you.
As long as they don't add those horrible heuristics for parsing text to find times/dates and make them appear as suggested events (Like Ms Outlook and Facebook started doing recently) i'm happy... They trigger waaay too often and only get it right about half the time.
