Hey there!

I am very much interested in the Sailfish X programme as a non-android mobile OS alternative. As I am also interested in software developement building the OS as described here (2017-12-10) seems to be the way to go. Still there are some android applications I want to keep using. This is where things remain a little unclear to me even after doing quite a bit of reading and I hope someone here can help to clarify things.

Is it possible to utilize android application support on a Sailfish X device running a OS custom built from source? Is android application support something I just can get and install from the jolla store after building and flashing the OS or do i have to purchase and use the full Sailfish X package for this?

Regards cy

You'll need to buy the Sailfish X licence, but I don't see why you couldn't use the community build process to build your own image.

Worst case is you end up installing the official images anyway after learning a bit about the build process

Did you mean “why you couldn't use the community build process”?
