I've noticd there is already a basic one-drive sync feature available in Sailfish OS allowing me to see all my online stored pics on the device, so at least I can read. That's really good to have. :)

Now what I haven't found yet is a way to :

  1. Read documents stored online
  2. Upload files in general
  3. Upload pictures and ideally in an automated way for those taken by cam as a means of pictures backup

In a nutshell basically what the android app does. Sure I can do everything via Alien-Dalvik using the one-drive app. Would work - sure.

But it just came to my mind that the onedrive inbuilt hook for Sailfish OS has to have a reason to be there. So why not extending that existing native hook?

Looking fowards to ideas thoughts.

I agree, this is a topic which has been discussed for some time, however progress has been limited by available resources to work on it. Note that a community member has started adding support for similar synchronisation capability for generic WebDAV servers (see https://git.merproject.org/mer-core-contrib/buteo-sync-plugin-webdav for that), so perhaps the existing OneDrive implementation could be extended to support all of the required operations (see https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/buteo-sync-plugins-social for that). Contributions are always welcome, get in touch with me on IRC if this is something you're interested in helping out with :-)

I also agree, that this automated sync feature to OneDrive or other cloud services would be really nice to have and a thing that should be worked on to have it implemented in the OS. Thanks to all community members who work on this. For now i do it the following way: For reading documents stored online i use the app FileCase by CepiPerez, also for uploading single files like documents. Uploading single pictures is already implemented in gallery app. But for general syncing my pictures to the cloud i use as you mentioned the android OneDrive app. It works well in the background without doing anything.
