Hi everyone,

I have not used my Jolla 1 in a while, but I have a need for a second phone at work and I would love to use this one for it! I had done various terrible things to the phone over the years, so after replacing the battery I decided to do a factory reset. That is always the best, right? So I did that and it reset all the way back to its First One roots. Then I let it update, and update again, and update a few more times, and now it's a nice clean Sailfish install at version 2.1.3.7 - hooray!

I did some setup of accounts, and now I would like to install things, and here I have found a couple of issues:

1) The store tells me that every app that I have installed so far has an update. For example: the Calendar app shows that the installed version is 0.6.3, but there is an 0.6.31 version available. MeeCast: 1.1.16 installed, 1.1.19 available. 0.2.15 installed, 0.3.25 available. If I tell the Store to update the app, it will think for a while and then give an error that the app is already up to date, but continue showing that an update is available. I have tried rebooting a few times, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I tried uninstalling, rebooting, and then reinstalling; always the same behavior. I have not installed Warehouse or any other repos.

2) I can not run any Android apps. Android support is installed (and has an update available! 0.17.27 is installed, 0.17.35 is available, but of course I can not install it). If I look at the Android Support control panel, the option for "Start Android support on bootup" is checked, but the "Start" button under Actions is enabled as if it is not running. Pressing it does nothing. If I try to run Android apps, they spin for a while and then fail. Interesting note: I uninstalled Android support, rebooted, then reinstalled, and after the reinstall I was able to run the (Android) Store app. Then I rebooted again (as part of #1) and after that reboot, I am once again not able to run that or other Android apps.

Does anyone have some hints on what I can try to troubleshoot here? I would really like to play with this phone again!

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the lightning quick (and helpful) answers! I am a bit out of practice with Sailfish but I will pick it up again.

Anyway - I was going to try this, but ... I could not enable developer mode - it could not install jolla-developer-mode. I hunted around a bit and it seemed like the best (only?) solution I could find was to do another factory reset. Since I had not really accomplished much yet, I did it, and when it booted up in version 1.0.0.5 I declined to install any packages, and then switched on developer mode before running through the upgrades. Now it is working fine, so I guess that is good.

Thanks again for the tips!
