Over 2 years I am using the Jolla1 phone, since three month SFOS 2.1.3.7 is installed, but I never ever had such "request" while using the phone/UI. Yesterday, an UI install-suggestion shows up, while being in the clock application. It suggests to install "Snow White" (seems to be unrelated to the actual interaction (clock application)). It seems to be more related to "ambienced" and TOH ... despite that I see that ambience-snow-white is not installed - just curious:

  • What triggers such request in the UI?
  • Does someone had the same experience?
  • Why does it appears "now" (is it timed)?
  • Are other "packages" the same way suggested?
  • More questions ...?

Answers to your questions (just my observations):

  • Usually by dropping it etc.
  • Yes.
  • No, it does not appear to be "timed", rather triggered by a single, sudden deceleration.
  • No.
  • No.

Let SnowWhite install and it won't bug you anymore (you don't have to select it).

  1. You are being presented with this menu because the Ambience package that comes with the white TOH is not installed, so you are prompted to install (hence package is marked as available in your screenshot). Also, removing or replacing the TOH (the other half) will trigger this installation prompt, as will installing an ambience from a downloaded/saved RPM.

  2. No, I only see this menu if I remove my TOH, even if it is already installed (bug).

  3. It's not timed, it's only triggered by removing the TOH, or by installing an ambience via an RPM package.

  4. All ambience packages share this particular menu. Generally, when a package is installed from a downloaded/saved RPM file, the install menu always appears at the top of the screen with appropriate text/info of the package.

Are you saying you have never seen this prompt before now, ever...?

Once the ambience is installed, remove your TOH, put it back on and you should be prompted to install it again - at least my device does and I'm sure this is a known bug.

Thanks. Yes, I never had such prompt before ...

TOH was not touched while the prompt appears. So, a ac/deceleration could trigger this, interesting - thanks.

Many people had this problem.

If it stats to be annoying turn off the NFC

devel-su
# (type in your password set in Developer mode settings)
systemctl mask tohd.service

systemctl stop tohd.service

Thank you a lot, atlochowski!!! This stupid annoyance really pissed me off. I wonder, do Jolla developers believe these bells and whistles to be the most necessary OS part for a user?

Used atlochowski's NFC code. Really annoyed me for half a year or so on my JP1. Using 2.1.4.14 now, and TOH snow-white. Hope this is the final 'solution'.
