no predictive text on sailfish x? [answered]

hey guys, first post here. i was a long time n9 user and ive been playing around with sailfish on my xperia x for a few weeks now. but i cant figure out how to activate/turn on predictive text. and i thought that was an advertised feature. i searched but didnt see any posts on this.

Which language do you use? Are you using the official SailfishX or the community built image?

Its official Sailfish X. I do have a few other languages. i do have a couple other keyboards active (spanish, french, and greek)

Predictive text state in SFOS is going to change dramatically very soon. @martonmiklos has done a big job in bringing open-sourced Presage predictive engine ( over to Sailfish and developing corresponding keyboard plugin (

At present, I am helping him with the further development of plugin and presage backend. Few days ago I finished work on new language database format for presage which majorly improved the performance and reduced database size. The scripts were written to make packaging new languages and keyboards easily.

There are still few outstanding issues to be fixed ( and, but we are getting close to the new release, in my personal opinion. After that, its up to community to get texts and train the language model for each language they are interested in. And report / fix bugs / implement new features, as usual for open-source projects.

Please run a zypper se for xt9 as root. If not installed (no i in the first column) install it with zypper in jolla-xt9

Yes it's an advertised feature, and if you read the end of the sentence, you'll see "[...] as downloads from Jolla Store to your device" ;)

That's only a valid answer for official image. For community build there is an alternative available at openrepos though.

When using official image, one can find a software called "Predictive text input" (by Jolla) in the store

I'm using sailfish x community (as F5321 is not supported officially yet ;-) ).

mazoon, im fairly postitive i did that when i first set up the phone, now it doesnt appear for me in the store when i search

I have found the root of the problem. I had someone else who is a little more experienced in flashing phones (as I never had) put sailfish on the xperia x for me. He bought the official license, but when I got the phone in my hands I signed in with my own Jolla account, I was no longer signed into an account linked with an official license and so keyboard support disappeared. I will try buying the license thru a VPN and hopefully that works. Though its annoying I have to pay another $50.

You should contacts Jolla support. They should be able to transfer the previously bought license to your account.
