It would be nice to have the possibility to switch to a "private mode" in web browser app, where the history is not saved nor any password, forms etc...

EDIT 21-01-2015 - announced as upcoming feature here

EDIT 27-02-2015- A PR is merged https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-browser/pull/286 Am not sure if it is available in nightly build already.

also, a private mode that anonymizes the browser footprint, as can be measured by EFF's panopticlick.

In our Jolla ontology I think "private mode" should be called "pirate mode"

I agree with edgar that this feature should be added.

Most websites do not adhere to the DNT policy and there are only policy-based compliance measures to be had. In Europe there are presently no ways of ensuring that DNT is followed. Third-party cookie blocking is, potentially, a step forward but with large companies from the US using this blocking as a method of ensuring that they set standards for other forms of tracking it's doubtful if this really protects privacy much.

Released with upgrade 1.1.6/Aaslakkajärvi

Usage instructions are: Browser app -> tabs -> pulley -> new private browsing tab.

This was not easy to find.

Clearing specific pages from history, or clearing history without clearing saved sessions and cache, would also be preferable.

Please read this answer from veshku:

You can clean history in Settings -> Apps -> Browser -> Privacy. Just disable clearing of other fields than history and select clear.

In the most recent Jolla Blog post it is mentioned that:

After contributing to the Sailfish Browser for some time, he [Siteshwar] saw a thread about private browsing and initiated a discussion with the browser maintainers. “I looked around in the code and wrote a series of patches to implement private browsing. For a feature like this, it consists of mostly backend code, but Jaakko (Designer, Jolla) has come up with beautiful designs for it. I am sure users are going to like how it looks.”

(Note: Private Browsing feature will be released in an upcoming Sailfish OS update)

So private browsing seems to be on the way!
