Newly converted from Android, thank to Sailfish X, and getting familiar with forums here. Just a thought - might it be timw for device-specific forums here? With Android, it's a necessity, not only because of the number of threads/forums, but also because of the significance of differences between oems/devices/versions, etc. Sailfish is still pretty small, but seems to be on the increase, but I don't know enough about the technical aspects of the OS to know how applicable the other issue is... Is Sailfish Sailfish, no matter the device?

imho, simply no. the forum is small with max 50 really competent members splitting will improve nothing.

Yes, the SailfishOS Linux-Distribution is the same for all devices.
Up to now there are three versions of AlienDalvik (based on AOSP 4.1.2, 4.4.4 and 8.0) each being deployed on multiple SailfishOS devices (except for the first one).
Only the hardware adaption / kernel is device specific.

Hence "device specific forums" do not make much sense.
IMO, that would just cause unnecessary fragmentation.

True. .. I guess I'm just imagining a future of hundreds of thousands of threads, and one forum, all to be searched using tags. So, I want to find a thread about a certain issue, and enter a couple of tags, and 5,000 results pop up, from 500 people using various different devices and versions. Maybe now is ok, but...

Good point. Although in (sub)category oriented forums there can be misplaced post too. So searching can be a challenge there too.

Just bumping this, in case maybe it's more relevant now. Seems like at least a branch separating the new-aliendalvik- and the old-aliendalvik-devices might be a good idea...

Just posting here about my experience with new Sailfish forum, since I can't post there right now, (see below for why not). Anybody else get the same issues?

1 - When typing a post, the text box is in a separate layer at the bottom of the screen, and doesn't pop up, so the keyboard hides it the whole time. 2 - Works normally with SF browser, but gives an error about outdated browser with any others, (even on one Android browser). 3 - When signing in for the first time, my TJC user and pwd were automatically filled in, but I was registered as a new user, and when I attempted to post my first post, I got my account temporarily disabled(?)
