Hello again dear language fellows!

We are getting ready for the next SW release, 2.2.0. This time there are quite a few strings, which have the status Untranslated or Needs work. Some string sources have changed (namely Jolla -> Sailfish OS), but Pootle's translation memory should help you there.
We are still expecting to get new strings in during the week, so check back often, but we need to get the translation process started already now. Therefore we would kindly ask you to do your part by the end of Wednesday, 11th April. If you have any concerns, problems, or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Without further ado, head to https://translate.sailfishos.org and follow link for instructions if you're there for the first time :)

Thank you & regards,

Sim & Jarkko

Many thanks to @Dylan Van Assche who already did most of the work on the new Dutch translations. Now at 100% again.

Hi all,

Great progress in many languages so far! Thank you for your excellent work! A few notes to you all:

  • Please make sure you use the same variable as in the source language without changing any numbers or letters, i.e. %1 or %0.
  • Some strings had a word change Jolla -> Sailfish. Please make sure you follow the source. I fixed it to some languages already.
  • These 2 strings in gallery-facebook.ts: jolla_gallery_facebook-la-you-and-multiple-friend-like-this and jolla_gallery_facebook-la-multiple-friend-like-this need singular and plural forms. Please make sure you have even the same text on every line if there's no difference between the translations. Otherwise the other line(s) will show up in English. For example now in Polish there's only 1 translation but we need 3 for both (1, 2-4, 5-).

Thank you!

Regards,

Jarkko

Hi, can you give some context for settings_network-la-* please? (settings_network-la-moderate, settings_network-la-fair, ...) Is it the strength of the signal?

About the %1, I saw yesterday one translation in UK english where the '1' was missing (% instead of %1) but I can't find it again, it may have been fixed.

I fixed the missing English % GHz -> %1 GHz. Yes, "moderate", "fair" and others are signal strenghts.

Ok thanks, then I've changed the translation of "moderate" in french.

Hi all,

Once again great progress with the translations. Some languages are already completed, some still untouched. There won't be new strings coming this week any more, but most probably next week. We will let you know how it goes.

Thank you!

Regards,

Jarkko

Hi again,

There was a question on Sailfish Archive. It's the name of an app like WinZip or any other app to unzip files.

Jarkko

Yes, that was mine. I converted it from an answer into a comment. Thanks, this gives me the right context to adjust the translation string.

Good morning dear friends!

Thank you all for the great work you have done so far. Now there are some more strings to be translated for 2.2.0. They are quite simple ones this time.

Thank you and have a nice week!

Regards,

Jarkko

@jahonen while translating i stumble in to this > Pull donw to quit application. Does the guy that wrote the archive app has any idea how sailfish works or is a new intern or something :/

ApB ( 2018-04-16 18:12:41 +0300 )edit

@ApB, it's shown in a "dead-end" situation of an app when the archive or extracted directory have been deleted, and there's nothing more left to do.

sledges ( 2018-04-16 19:07:00 +0300 )edit

@sledges while i don't know specifics i don't see why you cant just swipe the app -if it is a separate app- away and close from the long press.

Anyway.

Hello all,

question regarding strings in sailfishsilica-qt5 / sailfishsilica-qt5.ts

For ie. sailfishsilica-monthname_april_standalone_capitalized -- that means month name with capital 1st letter like "April" or all caps, like "APRIL"?

Thanks, b.

This means capitalised the first letter only. Thanks!
